Nick's Computer Works Sturgis
2007 (sort of)
Next stop was Rapid City, South Dakota. We stayed at the Best Western Town and Country. The price was right, the place was clean, and the only drawback was that the above ground Jacuzzi was broken while we were there. An in ground Jacuzzi would have been a nice touch to their beautiful pool. It was a little too cool to swim so a Jacuzzi would have been nice. They had a very decent continental breakfast and the very pretty Miss Stephanie saw to it that the items were always stocked. Stephanie was very customer oriented and not only handled the breakfast well, but she was great at directions and any other questions we had. There is a nice family restaurant on the premises that serves a good meal at fair prices. Right off of exit 97 we found the Golden Corral Restaurant. Without a doubt, they have one of the best family buffets that can be found anywhere. This particular Golden Corral stands out as one of the best. Although some of their servers (most of them) lack in personality, the food was more than enough to make up for that. On our third trip there, Steve was our server. Now Steve had a hell of a personality and he made our dinner even better with his humor and knowledge of how to fill our glasses! Above all, their fresh Peach Cobbler put much weight on me. It is one of those things that enough is never enough! We tried eating elsewhere because of my addiction to their Cobbler. We stopped at Embers BBQ, a supposed biker bbq house. Don't waste your money. It was back to the Golden Corral for us. We headed up to Mt. Rushmore (about 28 miles away) and right before you hit Rushmore is a little tourist town called Keystone. Actually, all their prices were quite reasonable. Keystone is a must see. A lot of bikers were there and a lot of great shops. You could easily spend several hours here enjoying the shops. My favorite (of course) was the Salt Water Taffy shop where you can watch it made and gain lots of weight buying several pounds of the stuff. Next time out we may take the ½ day train ride that takes you along the scenic routes. Next: Mount Rushmore. Click here for pictures
