Ziolkowski's generator

There are so many things to do in Rapid City and the surrounding area that we had to choose which ones to see or do. Another of the "must see" things is the Crazy Horse Memorial. Korczak Ziolkowski in keeping with his promise to the American Indians to preserve their heritage started the Crazy House sculpture more than 50 years ago. While perusing the models of what the finished project is supposed to look like, do you get the idea it may never be finished? Keep in mind that Mt. Rushmore was completed in 14 years. One of Ziolkowski's problems was his generator. He would work on it, get it running, and then start the long ladder climb to the sculpture just to hear the generator sputter to a halt. Back down the ladder and fix it again and again. This would happen several times a day! There is a ton of history to be seen at this wonderful memorial. It is well worth the $5.00 per person to get in.
