Best Western Cross-Winds in West Yellowstone

Best Western again

View from our hotel

Another view from the Cross-Winds

We left Salt Lake City with the intentions of going to West Yellowstone via Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Grand Tetons, and entering through the South entrance to Yellowstone. However, the rain started in Idaho Falls and we decided to forego the extra four hour "long way around". We instead got off the 15N and took the 20E straight into West Yellowstone. We still got hammered by rain the last 40 miles. This leg was 320 miles and about 5.5 hours.

We stayed at the Best Western Cross-Winds in West Yellowstone. It seemed to be about the same as all the other hotels in the area. West Yellowstone is very nice and has a lot of foreign exchange students that only work the Summers there. Some of them are very difficult to understand and most don't understand our culture. They are pleasant enough, but service lacks. Still, the Cross-Winds is in a good location, has nice rooms, and a nice indoor spa and pool that is well kept. They did not have laundry facilities or eateries. The Laundromat down the street was adequate but extremely dirty. It was the only one in town so you use it. Thank goodness for KFC! The other restaurants in town are extremely expensive. The average family could never afford them and they would go away hungry. Maybe I'll open a restaurant there! I'll bet the other restaurant owners would have me assassinated.
